A factory running on daylight
A packaging manufacturer running two shifts faced punishing demand charges: stamping machines spiked the meter every morning. Their 4,000 m² shed roof plus an unused side yard gave us room for 250 kW of panels feeding directly into the daytime load.
Client
Packaging manufacturer, Eastfield Estate
System
250 kW · roof + ground mount, 3 inverters
Timeline
Design to commissioning in 14 weeks
Result
78% less daytime grid power
Demand spikes, dust, zero downtime
Production couldn't stop, so all roof work happened in staged weekend windows with full edge protection. We oversized the inverter capacity for motor inrush currents, specced anti-soiling coating for the dusty estate air, and sequenced the ground mount to double as shaded pallet storage.
- Weekend-only roof staging — production never paused
- Inverters sized for heavy motor inrush loads
- Ground mount doubles as shaded storage yard
Payback in under four years
With demand charges slashed and weekend surplus exported, the plant's finance team projects full payback in 3.8 years — then two decades of near-free daytime power.
